I ran the best race of my life this weekend! Okay, so it wasn’t my race at all. It was Cora’s very first race, the runDisney 100m Kids Race! When Cora isn’t attending her fair share of races as my #1 cheerleader, she is often “running marathons” around our house. I never wanted to pressure her into running but since she often talks about running races, I finally felt okay with asking her if she wanted to run her first race. She said yes way back when registration opened for the Princess Half Marathon weekend and talked about her first race ever since.
The morning of the race she was really excited but with all the waiting around for the actual race to start, she ended up really bored and wanted to leave after getting into the corrals. Finally, when it was our turn for the 100m dash, she looked excited again and turned to me and said, “Mom, I want to win.” I thought to myself, man, she already has a competitive spirit. I asked her if she wanted to hold hands but she informed me she wanted to run by herself. I told her I would be right beside her if she needed me… Little did I know just how hard she planned to run!
Before I knew it, the announcer counted down the start and we were off!
Goofy was about halfway to the finish and he jumped in front of Cora. She was a bit startled… she wanted to win after all. So with a high five, she quickly moved around him and bounded towards the finish. She crossed the finish line and kept going! She didn’t stop until she saw the volunteers with the medals. Beaming ear to ear, she was so proud of herself! I’m really proud of her too! She was incredible out there, tongue hanging out of her mouth and all!
I had so much fun at this event and Cora is excited to run another race. So, I think that means she had a great time too! Have you and your little ones participated in a runDisney Kids Race? What was your experience?
One Proud Mamma,
Lisa
Too precious for words!

Yay! I love this. You can see the joy in her face – and yours.
My recent post Wednesday confessions
Thank you! Yes, it was so fun to see her enjoy running!
I love running with my daughter. I don't have a "little" one, but I have a 12 year old daughter, who has now run several 5k's with me. My heart swells with pride and I love the running she and I do through our neighborhood together. My daughter has pushed me twice, to two 5k Pr's this year. However, be warned, my daughter now borrows all my Lululemon, Lucy and Athleta running wear/gear!! I'm excited for my daughter, Sydney, to work her way up to running a Zooma 10k race with me next year!

I can't wait for those days, even if that means sharing athletic gear!
This is ADORABLE! I'm so excited you were able to experience Cora's first race with her! (Love your skirts too!)

Thank you Megan! I kind of feel bad that she thinks all races require a sparkle skirt!
So cute! I can't wait to do a Disney race with my boys one day. She is so young too that is AWESOME!!
They have races for all ages! They start with a diaper dash and range up through a mile and 5k for older kids. I would definitely recommend the kids races at Disney. It was a lot of fun!
Oh my goodness, this is too cute! You guys both look like you had a great time : )

We did! It was so much fun! Honestly, the best race ever 🙂
My 15 month old was at the Friday 100m event (did your daughter do the event on Friday or Saturday?), and I agree that it was the best race of my life! She was smiling ear to ear, saying hello to Goofy, and "running" hand in hand with my husband and I. She arrived last in her wave (the first wave of the 100m dash), which was good because she was celebrated by everyone in her Tink outfit with wings and her NB sneakers. She even made it into the official RunDisney FB page! I was so proud! The next day my older daughter (16 years old) and I ran the 10k, and she came in about 10 minutes before I did. Soooooo proud of her as well!
That is amazing! Yes, we were in the Friday 100m dash too! Congrats to you and both of your daughters!
This is the sweetest post ever! Congrats to Cora and I love seeing kid's enjoying running, especially when their parent(s) do as well!! Win-win for everyone!

Yes! Definitely a win – win. It was a fun way for her to participate in our race weekend. Hopefully we can find more kids races attached to my races!
All the photos are wonderful, but I like the one with the two of you post race the best. You could frame all of them! haha
I really want to frame a few for my office! I have to show her off 🙂
I love it, I love it, I love it!! Congrats, Cora!! 🙂

She definitely rocked the race and we had a blast!
So awesome. Love it!
Thanks Abby! We had so much fun!
PLEASE tell us where you found the matching skirts! That is the sweetest thing ever.
Hi Alison! These skirts are both Sparkle Skirts <a href="http:// (http://sparkleskirts.com/)” target=”_blank”> <a href="http://(http://sparkleskirts.com/)” target=”_blank”>(http://sparkleskirts.com/). I don't think that they make the children's skirts anymore. I've had these skirts for a couple years now. It doesn't hurt to e-mail them and ask if they would consider making them again!
ADORABLE!!!! 🙂
My recent post 20 Weeks! Halfway There!
Thank you 🙂
Those have to be the most adorable race photos I have ever seen!! I fully predict you have a runner on your hands now and that she'll be wanting to run the kids version of every single race you register for in the future!
So far you are right. She was asking about when she can run another race… I guess I need a larger race budget if the whole family is involved!
Like mother, like daughter! The joy that comes through in your post is amazing. So happy your girl loves your sport! I sense some mother-daughter runDisney events in your future 🙂

I hope so! But, if running isn't her thing, I won't push it. But, with her competitive nature, I'm sure she will be active doing something! To be continued 😉
Oh my gosh, I just can't get over how happy she looks! She must have definitely loved this experience! Go Cora!!
My recent post Ragnar FL Keys Recap: NUUNaritaville
When you get your picture taken during the race, did you use your phone? I know Disney likes to charge for everything so other than running with a phone that has a good camera, we were trying to figure out how everyone gets these awesome pictures.
Hey Alison! Yes, you can bring your camera on course. This happened way too fast since it was only 100m so I relied on the race photographers. I don't always buy race pictures but I loved every single one of them so I bought the package. It is pricey but for about 25 pictures and how awesome they came out, I felt like the $65.00 price tag was worth it for me. But, for the adult races, when you do character stops, etc, they have cast members on site that will use your cell phone or camera to take the photos. Hope this answers your questions! If not, shoot me a message lisarunsforcupcakes@gmail.com!
This is sooo soooo soooo CUTE!!! I love your matching sparkle skirts! Those pictures of Cora are adorable!!!
