Road Runner Sports R-Gear Review

Here in New York, the daffodils are beginning to make an appearance.  With a few warm days sprinkled throughout the early weeks of March, it’s exciting to have a taste of spring.  So, with warm breezes and sunshine on my mind, I’m sharing five of my favorite reasons for spring with you today as a part of the Friday Five Link-up with the DC blogging trio of Mar, Cynthia, and Courtney.  To join their link-up, be sure to check out their blogs – this week’s topic is FAVORITES!

My favorite reasons for Spring are:

1. Sunlight:  More sunlight and longer days make me feel human again.  There is nothing like decompressing after a long day at work with a run, a short hike, or a stroll around the neighborhood with my pup.  I don’t know about you but I feel like more sunlight makes me feel far more productive than I was during those dreary winter months.

2.  Rain showers:  I love running; yet, I really love running in the rain.  There is something about splashing in rain puddles that feels incredibly cleansing.

3.  Flowers:  You know how the saying goes, rain showers bring May flowers.  I love getting out my gardening gloves and digging in the dirt.  There is just something so therapeutic about being outside, playing in the dirt and seeing the fruits of your labor spring to life.  Get ready for your Instagram feed to flood with images of tulips!

4.  Spring Cleaning:  We are in the midst of preparing for a move and we are beginning to purge.  There is nothing like starting fresh for the spring!  Plus, when you de-clutter, you have a little more room for my next reason to love spring! 😉

5.  Colorful Wardrobe:  And, by wardrobe, I mean, running gear!  With temperatures on the rise, bare legs and bright hues are starting to make an appearance!

Don’t you just love these colors?  The perfect way to bring a pop of color into your running wardrobe is to bring in a playful piece or two… or three (I won’t judge!) and rotate them around some of your tried and true favorites.  Trust me, even just treating yourself to one new piece of gear will brighten your mood.  When Road Runner Sports contacted me about trying their R-Gear line, I will admit that I didn’t know that Road Runner Sports had their own line of gear.  And, seriously, they offer a little bit of everything for both men and women.  When selecting my pieces, I wanted something that would be versatile, an outfit that could easily translate from the run to yoga.  I found myself instantly hooked on the capris and then opted for a top to offset the beautifully bright purple leggings.  And, I went with a recommendation on the socks!  Here’s a little bit more about each one of the pieces:

Women’s R-Gear Stripe Hype Long Sleeve:  After eyeing white tops for a white, I went for it with this one.  I have hesitated because I thought white would be hard to take care of but after months of wearing it, the R-Gear Hype Long Sleeve is absolutely holding up well.  I also love that the stripes are a little bit see-through and pick up the color of whatever sports bra or shirt you are wearing underneath!Road Runner Sports R-Gear 2

Women’s R-Gear Leg Up Printed 19″ Capri Legging:  Sometimes Capri length can be a bit tricky.  At 19 inches long, these capris are long enough to not ride up uncomfortably over the knee.  To me, that is super important because you don’t want to have to tug your pants up or down while you are on the move.  These pants are also perfect for yoga and I can’t wait to test them out there this Saturday at a Yoga for Runner’s Class!  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the best part about these pants is how soft they are to the touch – they are just luxurious and do not at all feel like your typical moisture wicking material.Road Runner Sports R-Gear Capris with Socks

Women’s R-Gear Drymax Light & Quick Thinnest No Show Socks:  Whether on long runs or just wearing  these socks to the grocery store, the Drymax no-show socks are super comfortable.  I usually like a thicker sock, but am pleasantly surprised by how comfortable these socks are for being so thin.  As the warmer months are upon us, I can definitely see using these regularly on my long runs.

I am SO HAPPY to see sunlight. I have been in such a better mood lately and I know its because of the change in weather. Yay for spring!

How is the sizing on the capris? I love Road Runner Sports but there is no store near me and I hate returning online ordered stuff. Do they run true to size? I often buy C9 stuff at Target if that helps 🙂

    • I don't have a RRS locally anymore either! I was happy with the sizing and fit – pretty standard I would say. I usually wear a small on the bottoms and medium on top (unless they are unflattering cuts or don't have enough chest room!) and these were a great fit.

Cute outfit! I love Road Runner Sports!

  5. Jennifer says:

Love that top and capris! I frequently wear white tops both because they go with so much and for visibility because I run early in the mornings, and I love the mesh stripes in that shirt!

Very cute and comfy looking outfit. I could definitely sport that to run errands. I am looking to purchase socks for the Spring and Summer, so thank you for the review.
Also, it's great to see your posts again. I have enjoyed them over the last few weeks. Always so informative.

  7. Ooh I love those capris-especially that purple color. That top looks super nice too! I need some nice long sleeve tops that are light enough for spring running!

Really loving those shades of purple! I want to lighten up my spring running wardrobe with some pretty spring colors! I agree with Lauren above, light weight long sleeve tops are a must have for those chilly spring mornings!

    • I love lots of color for spring and summer. I just love how soft these capris are compared to some the others I own. These are absolutely perfect for yoga because they are very forgiving fabric.
