Oh my word, I almost forgot how to write a blog post. I can’t believe it’s almost the end of June. This past month has been a whirlwind. To rewind a bit, here is a post I wrote pre-move about my thoughts. So, let’s catch you up with a little summer update!
Back in May, I flew out to Kansas to start my new job. After working in Kansas for a week, I flew home for two weeks of vacation. Not exactly your traditional way to start a new gig! I’m so thankful that it worked out and that I had the time with my family and friends. I was able to get things a wee bit organized for the move and we went to Disney!
It was so fantastic to have that family time together before heading out to Kansas by myself for the month of June. So, I did what anyone any crazy running blogger would do and pit-stopped in Annapolis on the way out for ZOOMA Annapolis! I am so happy that I did because I got to spend some time with my best friend and some of my favorite running bloggers. It was an amazingly fun few days before making the trek to Kansas.
My drive took two days and was fairly uneventful. These are good things when moving across the country! Well, except, I did have a bit of an issue with the hotel that I booked for my arrival in Kansas but after a small mental breakdown, I relocated to a fantastic hotel for the rest of the month. Oh, and then I surprised Jake for Father’s Day by heading up to Maine for the weekend. That was also a bit of a mess since my connections didn’t work out due to some delays on my initial flight out of Kansas City. BUT, I was able to find a flight to Boston and then rented a car to drive my butt to Maine by the morning. It was so worth staying up until 3:30am to see the looks on their faces! Plus, it didn’t hurt to get in two days of gorgeous running weather and some kayaking.
So now that I am back in Kansas, I will say that I cannot wait to move into our house. I am so tired of living out of a hotel and eating out for every single meal. It’s getting so old! By the time this post is live, I just have two short days to wait for Jake and Cora to arrive and I’m so excited! Next up, we move into our house. And, then the last piece of the puzzle that is giving us trouble is our household goods getting shipped to Kansas. They can’t seem to find a mover to drive the items out to Kansas…. I can’t believe the Army can’t contract this process to be slightly more efficient! BUT, I can wait on my “stuff” – I’m just happy to be reunited with my family!
Hopefully I will get back into the swing of blogging, especially with my new and slightly demanding job. It’s all good… I just need to hit a new groove 🙂
Hope you all are doing well and enjoying your start to summer!
