Review: Jabra Elite Sport Earbuds

Disclosure: Thanks to Jabra, I received a pair of Jabra Elite Sport earbuds in an exchange for a review on Lisa Runs for Cupcakes.   I did not receive any additional compensation. As always, my opinions are my own.

This summer, upon arriving in Georgia, I welcomed the opportunity to test out the Elite Sport earbuds from Jabra. Thanks to a hectic summer of moving, no internet at our brand new house for two months (gasp – we survived!), and transitioning back to work and school, I’m finally ready to share my thoughts with you all.

Jabra describes the Elite Sport as:

Jabra Elite Sport wireless earbuds feature superior sound quality for music and calls, and advanced wireless connectivity to ensure true performance. Our intuitive cord-free design includes two microphones in each bud that work together to filter out background noise ensuring that only your voice is heard clearly and with no distraction in every environment.

When I first opened the box, I was eager to pop them in and turn them on but you will need a little bit of time in order to get things rolling. In order to get the right fit for the earbuds, you will have to play Goldilocks!  Testing out the various shapes and sizes is really important! In order to make sure they will stay put for the long haul, you must test them out by jogging and jumping around the house; it is required! Yet, once you find the magical set that work with your ears, they do not budge. That’s right, I was skeptical too. But, these wireless ear buds actually stay in your ears.

Next up, you will need to charge your earbuds. They come with a fantastic little portable docking station. It’s small enough that I’m able to bring it with me in my purse or in my work bag. The only downside of the earbuds that I found is the battery life lasts a few hours. I’m not marathon training right now so I don’t have an issue with it. But, in exciting news, the folks at Jabra noted the issue with the charge duration. In the next model, Jabra just announced the Elite Sport Upgraded. This version has all the original Elite Sport features while boasting an extended battery life of 4.5 hours. My guess is that the technology will only continue to improve, providing you with even longer lasting charge.

Personally, my favorite feature of the Jabra Elite Sport earbuds is the Jabra Sport Life App and in-ear heart rate monitor. As many of you may know, I fell in love with heart rate training a few years ago. Now, these earbuds are an absolutely perfect partner to my heart rate training ways. And, when I compared the heart rate from the earbuds to my Garmin chest-strap, it was pretty darn close.  Aside from heart rate, the Jabra Sport Life App is pretty great for other performance tracking indicators.  These indicators include time, speed, distance, pace, steps, cadence, calories, VO2 Max estimates, and real-time audio coaching.

And, for those of you that really need your tunes and still stay connected, you can accept calls with your Sport Elite earbuds. For me, this isn’t a huge deal because I like to focus on my runs. But, I like that my family can contact me if they need me!  And, in order to make sure you get the best sound quality possible, it all goes back to fit. Make sure you take your time when you set up your earbuds and perfect the seal for quality sound and comfort.
