Race Recap: 2015 West Point “Fallen Comrades” Half Marathon

So, a while back, my running group here at West Point decided to sign up for the 2015 West Point “Fallen Comrades” Half Marathon.  I immediately signed up since the memorial run honors fallen graduates of the United States Military Academy and is home turf.  Well, fast forward to last weekend and it was race day!  Despite not running long since the Disney Glass Slipper Challenge, I thought I would go ahead and run it for fun.  And, with the {Read More}

Hiking Gros Piton in Saint Lucia

For Spring break, Jake and I headed to Saint Lucia for a short getaway.  Thanks to my mother-in-law, this was our first vacation without Cora that did not involve running.  Yes, laugh at that statement.  My husband is such a champ when it comes to supporting my running.  It was finally time that we took a vacation that didn’t involve a really early wake-up call and a starting line!  Although, he should know better.  Shortly after booking our resort and doing {Read More}

Race Recap: 2015 runDisney Enchanted 10k

Heading into the runDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, I was really worried about my fitness levels. Thanks to getting sick at the beginning of February, I was completely out of the running game for two and a half weeks. Since that is a long time, I had no clue what to expect of myself during the race weekend. Originally, months before the race, I talked to Christine about running the runDisney Enchanted 10k together since we were both looking to {Read More}

runDisney Kids Races: A Magical 200m + Advice

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know that one of my very favorite race experiences had nothing to do with my running and everything to do with my daughter’s first race!  Last year, Cora ran in her very first race, the 100m Kids Race as part of runDisney‘s Princess Half Marathon Weekend. This year, we experienced a very magical 200m kids race!  Since we missed the Expo thanks to terrible weather and flight delays, we picked up the bib {Read More}

I’m Back! 2015 Princess Half Marathon Weekend in Disney World

I’m back after a whirlwind weekend at the 2015 Princess Half Marathon Weekend in Disney World!  I’m so thankful for the weekend of warm weather with my family.  But, now, it’s back to the the work grind and some freezing weather. I am so happy to report that I raced!  Despite a rough February of training, I managed to race this weekend.  I ran the Enchanted 10k on Saturday.  Then Cora and I ran the 200m Kid’s Race together shortly after the 10k.  Then, {Read More}

Friday Five: Running on West Point

Today, I’m linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia to tell you my favorite things about running on West Point. Thankfully, being a military spouse certainly helps me add to my list of favorite running locations… Trust me, DC and Austin certainly rank up there!  But, I wanted to share a little more of my home turf with you today.  West Point has become one of my favorite training grounds over the past year and a half and here is why I {Read More}

Year of Running 2014

I can’t believe that another year is coming to a close.  With it being New Year’s Eve, I love taking a look back at all the wonderful experiences running brought me in 2014!  Many thanks to Amanda, also known as Miss Zippy, for hosting this annual link-up! Best race experience? The best race experience of my year was at the Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend. However, it had nothing to do with my running. Cora ran her very first Kid’s Races {Read More}

Ragnar SoCal: 195 Miles with Team Tough Chik

April 4th and 5th, 2014 Team Tough Chik took on Ragnar SoCal, the 195 mile journey from Huntington Beach to San Diego, California. As runner #1, I had the honor of kicking off our journey through southern California.  With that, I was a little anxious about getting to the starting line on time.  When we arrived, there were tons of crowds.  Thankfully, the announcers mentioned that there were lots of folks behind schedule so that helped me from really freaking {Read More}

Relay Tips: Van Decorating 101

The one way to stick out as a Ragnar Relay newbie is to have a lame van. Yup, you read that right. You do not want to be the odd van out and show up to the starting line with a plain, white van. BORING! Here are my van decorating tips & lessons learned from relays past: 1.) You have your team name… Run with it! Make funny slogans and get creative! Combine that with the location and the options are {Read More}
