Race Recap: Gulf Beach Half Marathon 9/14/2013

This week will be RACE RECAP catch up week on Lisa Runs for Cupcakes!  First up, the Gulf Beach Half Marathon! A few weeks before the race, I decided to run the Gulf Beach Half Marathon in Milford, Connecticut, about a half hour from my hometown of Norwalk, CT.  This is about an hour and half from where we currently live so after Cora went to sleep, I drove to CT and slept over at my grand-parents house to make {Read More}

Race Recap: 2013 Disneyland Half Marathon

The second half of the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge included runDisney‘s 2013 Disneyland Half Marathon.  {Read about the first part of the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge, the Disneyland 10k here.}  Jake and I both wanted to take it easy for this run.  I was treating it as a long training run for Marine Corps Marathon and this gave me a chance to take in the sights of the race. Just after Mile 1, runners entered the back lots of California {Read More}

ZOOMA Swag 2013

Last year I devoted a post to ZOOMA 2012 swag and it still gets page views every time a ZOOMA event is on the horizon.  Runners like to know that their race entry fee is going to come back to them in the form of swag.  And, I have to say, that ZOOMA know how to make a runner happy with all of their fantastic ZOOMA Swag. Here is the 2013 swag that I received at ZOOMA Annapolis! Before the race, tech t-shirts and {Read More}

Race Recap: ZOOMA Annapolis 2013

    I can’t believe that this race happened over a month ago.  I think I delayed this post since I had such a great time being an ambassador and meeting so many great folks through ZOOMA!  Hello post-race blues!  Well, that plus moving!   So let’s cut to the chase…  Saturday morning, I woke up early to make sure that I was at the start of the ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon.  First things first, I went to the porta-potties.  {Read More}

New Goals!

To start off the new year, I wrote a post about my goals for the year.  I wanted to update you all on my progress and set some new goals for myself as we head into the summer. Goal #1. BE KIND TO MY BODY: I stink at this.  I am keeping this as my number one goal because I do not stretch, ice, do yoga and foam roll nearly as regularly as I would like and it shows.  My IT {Read More}

ZOOMA Annapolis 2013

ZOOMA Annapolis is back on my race calendar for 2013! I am so excited to announce that I will be running the race as a ZOOMA Annapolis ambassador! Last year, my experience at ZOOMA Annapolis was so positive.  I had a blast participating in the weekend’s events – from the expo and listening to the talk provided by Another Mother Runner‘s Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea to the barefoot wine after party at the finish line.  And listening to the stories of other {Read More}

Race Recap: ZOOMA Half Marathon June 2, 2012

After a bit of a heat wave, the tornado-like weather brought about the perfect race conditions for Saturday morning.  The temperature started off in the 60s with a breeze off the water with sun filled skies by mid race.  My friend Niki and I arrived at the start a little bit behind schedule.  I decided to wait in line for the toilets while she went to the bag check.  I am so glad I made the pit stop but man {Read More}
