Week Recap 7/23-7/28

For several reasons, I decided to go back on a training plan even though I don’t have any races on my calendar until 2013.  As I mentioned before, I am planning on using the Train Like a Mother Half Marathon: Finish It plan.  This week seemed be as good a time as any to start! Available for Download via Another Mother Runner My week ended up looking like this! I ended up taking an extra rest day to accommodate the Moms {Read More}

Race Recap: Hot Mama Virtual Half Marathon

Today I ran the Hot Mama Virtual Half Marathon sponsored by Moms RUN This Town.  Since my summer mileage has been low, I had no goals for today other than to finish.  We are in Maine this week and I seriously lucked out on the weather and had a cool start to the run. A little stretching in the backyard before heading out! Still feeling good about 3 miles into the run. I LOVE RUNNING HERE!  And I love running {Read More}

Back on the Bandwagon!

So I have to admit that I fell off the running bandwagon.  From July 8 until July 17, I didn’t go for a single run.  Sure there were some reasons not to run but I don’t want to give excuses.  It’s almost been a year since I picked up running consistently again and this was the first time that I stopped running for more than a week.  It sucks to admit it but I am happy to announce that I {Read More}

Race Recap: Run Strong, Think Big Virtual 5k

The Run Strong, Think Big Virtual 5k was hosted by a fellow Tough Chik teammate, Nicole from Running While Mommy over July 21-22, 2012.  With the help of this virtual race, benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for Team in Training, Nicole was able to exceed her goal of raising 3,200 dollars.  Awesome! I ran the race while visiting family in Connecticut.  The first mile was downhill and then I looped around the park until I completed 3.1 miles.   Overall, I am {Read More}

Finish It and Own It

I don’t really have another half marathon on my calendar until January of 2013.  That leaves me with plenty of time to train for my next half.  I want to run under two hours and I think that it is easily manageable if I stick to a training plan.  In the past, when I stick to training, I get results.  When I don’t, well it’s painful.  So for my next half I want to use the “Finish it” plan from {Read More}

California Here I Come!

I am so excited to finally head out to California to visit one of my best friends, Caitlin.  She has lived out there since we graduated college and for some reason (maybe having a baby and bouncing around from state to state have something to do with it?) I have never visited her! I started brewing up the idea of running the Tinker Bell Half Marathon as an awesome excuse to get out there and have a relaxing girls weekend. {Read More}

A Week in Maine

The cooler temps in Maine definitely helped start off July on the right foot.  The amount and types of activity this week are a perfect example of how I would like to spend the rest of my summer, in terms of physical activity.  Without any major races on my calendar, I think this is a great way to maintain my fitness levels and have some fun. Sunday:  Jake and I went for a 3 mile run, check it out here. {Read More}

L.L.Bean 10k SURPRISE!

After the L.L.Bean 10k road race, we went to watch the awards ceremony, kids races, and stumbled upon the one and only, Joan Benoit Samuelson, signing autographs!  What an amazing surprise! She is one FAST and INSPIRING athlete!  Thank you for taking the time, after racing, to sign autographs Joan! Lisa

Race Recap: L.L.Bean 10k - July 4, 2012

Happy Fourth of July.  I hope you all enjoyed your holiday!   This morning I ran the L.L.Bean Fourth of July 10k in Freeport, Maine.  Despite  it’s famed hills, it was such a well organized and enjoyable race. The weather was a little wet at the start and turned into a cool mist for a majority of the race.  It really was perfect weather for a July race.  At the start, the race announcer mentioned that there were 1,600 runners and {Read More}
