The ZOOMA Annapolis course hates me. Okay, so that might be a bit dramatic. But, the rolling hills, the bridge and the temperatures had it in for me last year and I even ran close to a personal worst. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment but I am heading back to Annapolis in 2014. The third time is a charm, right? So with that being said, yes, I’m out for a redemption run in 2014. {2012 and 2013 race recaps are here and here.}
All kidding aside, I am actually thrilled to be running this race again this year. So, you are probably thinking, why the heck would you go back if you are whining about your past performances? Well, that’s just it. I’m whining about my performance, not the race or the race organization.

Here are my top 3 reasons to return to ZOOMA ANNAPOLIS!
1.) ZOOMA is organized by runners so the runner perks are always stellar. Last year, the yoga mats and the water bottles were awesome! That was in addition to the re-usable bag and finisher’s necklace that were provided. You get serious bang for your buck here! And, this year, they must have heard me buzzing about my medal addiction because they are adding a finisher’s medal instead of their traditional necklace. Plus, if you are a fan of the necklace, don’t worry. There is a detachable charm on the medal! 2.) They throw a hell of a party! Last year, I had a ton of fun at the race expo and Honest Tea‘s Mocktail Party {Read more about the pre-race festivities here.} And, the after party filled with post-race expo, music, massages, and Barefoot Wine is even more impressive!
2.) Finally, as a race ambassador last year, I had the honor of mentoring the Muscle Milk Light Half Marathon Challenge Athletes as they tackled their first half marathons. Whether or not they realize it, they refreshed my outlook on training and helped me believe that I could achieve the goals that I set for myself this year. {To read more about the experience of the challenge athletes, click on over to the ZOOMA blog here.} I hope to meet lots of inspiring runners again this year!

You totally do get some bang for your buck! Everyone I talk to about ZOOMA is blown away by how much stuff you get and how small the race fee is compared to so many in the area. I'm just waiting to confirm a bridal shower date and then I'm totally signing up 🙂

I have never done a Zooma race but I have heard they are great!!!
Yes, that is why I have a bone to pick with this course! Plus, I have the advantage of actually having hills to train on now 🙂 More hill training will be underway this spring to make sure that this is the best ZOOMA yet!
