Panic!

While on your lunch break, this is not what you want to see when you try to register for your first marathon… You also don’t want to see this… I know it’s an exciting day but now I am stressed that it is going to sell out in an hour while this page fails to load. Seriously.  I entered all my information at least three times only to be turned back to the screen above. But, what makes a runner happy? {Read More}

Dear Competitor,

Despite a great course and the high of a personal record at Rock ‘n’ Roll USA last weekend, logistics were a bit of a disappointment.  Listen up RNR, I’m offering some simple suggestions on how to make this a perfect race! 1.) No one likes a stinky start.  Please consider facing the porta-potties away from the corrals or place them outside of the corrals.  Runners and non-runners were in the corrals using the restrooms causing extra congestion. 2.) Runners do {Read More}

Race Recap: Rock ‘N’ Roll USA

Saturday morning, Jake and I woke up around 4:30am to catch the 5:00am metro into DC.  I love having the metro available for early morning races.  It makes it a lot easier than trying to deal with the hassle of parking downtown.  We arrived with plenty of time before the race which was great; I absolutely hate rushing around on race morning.  I was happy to have the extra time because  I still was not sure what to wear for {Read More}

RNR USA Expo

As I mentioned previously, the RNR USA Expo was held on Thursday and Friday prior to the race.  I wasn’t thrilled about having to go on Friday but Jake and I made surprisingly quick business of our trip. I knew I wanted to pick up a few rolls of KT Tape and have someone tape my IT band so I got on line as soon as we entered the Armory.  Luckily they were front and center when we walked through {Read More}

Vote Lisa Runs for Cupcakes!

Lisa Runs for Cupcakes is nominated for the 2013 Circle of Moms Top 25 Outdoorsy Moms.   Please VOTE LISA RUNS FOR CUPCAKES! You may be thinking, didn’t I just vote for her in some other contest?  If you are thinking that, you have followed me long enough to remember that I voted as one of the 2012 Circle of Moms Top 25 Outdoorsy Moms and 2012 Circle of Moms Top 25 Health and Wellness Moms.  For that, I am so thankful!!  {Read More}

Rock ‘n’ Roll

I guess I never really took notice, but most of my past races took place on a Sunday.  Now why does this matter you ask?  Well, the RNR USA half marathon and marathon are this Saturday. As a result, that left packet pick-up to Thursday and Friday.  For folks that work, that doesn’t leave much time to nab your packet when the race expo closes at 7pm.  It also doesn’t leave a large window for folks traveling in from out {Read More}

The Final Countdown

This morning, my lovely little calendar alerted me that I have 2 days until my next race. I don’t know where the past few weeks have gone but I cannot believe that I am about to run another half marathon.  My experience at the Princess Half did not exactly leave me feeling very confident and I haven’t clocked any runs over 7 miles since the race.  To top it off, I have somehow become a weekend warrior the few weeks {Read More}

runDisney Coast to Coast to Coast

SURPRISE!  I waited several months to spill the runDisney beans.  I’m registered for the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge this summer at Disneyland.  That means I will be running a 10k on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday, resulting in the accumulation of THREE pieces of BLING! Visiting with Dumbo during Princess Half Marathon weekend! The reason for the secret?  Our trip to California was the hubby’s 30th birthday present!  He’s going Coast to Coast and this will be my {Read More}

Post Race BLISS

The runDisney Princess Half Marathon definitely offers a very unique after party experience.  After crossing the finish line, volunteers are eagerly waiting for you.  Their congratulatory remarks as they place your medal around your neck make you feel like you just won the race.  Every runners is treated like royalty; that is not something that you can say about every race.  I even received a final dose of magical pixie dust!  Trust me, I needed it! After I received my {Read More}

Race Recap: 2013 Princess Half Marathon

When I woke up at 3am for the 2013 Princess Half Marathon, the first thing I wanted to check was the weather. Much to my dismay, my weather app sadly warned of warm temperatures and approximately 95% humidity. Not the best conditions when you train in Maryland. Yet, I was still optimistic that I was still going to nail my run and come in below two hours. I dressed and ran out the door with my hubby, Jake, and my friends, Niki and Mary. Friends {Read More}
