Now that I am back from my trip to Washington/Oregon (Hood to Coast) AND California (runDisney Dumbo Challenge), I can finally tell you all about these amazing events and races! Sorry for the delay but it has been a really FUN filled few weeks 🙂
I arrived in Seattle on Wednesday evening (8/21). Several teammates already had a day full of sightseeing and getting to know one another over dinner and bowling. I felt nervously behind the curve since I had to attend a work meeting Wednesday morning in Texas. When I finally arrived at the hotel, my nerves went away as I received a very warm welcome and hug from Lisa. Spending the night with Lisa, Megan, and Jenny was the perfect introduction to the team.
The next morning, Lisa and I woke early and I was able to enjoy a walk with her as we headed out to find some coffee. It was so nice to connect with her in person. I always felt a connection to her despite having never met and she was just as lovely in person as she is online. The morning seemed to fly by and next thing I knew, more and more of my teammates were arriving in the hotel lobby in order to get ready for our first team bonding outing of the day.
First stop, Green Lake for a 3-mile team run. The views were gorgeous and it was so nice to get the legs moving after spending so much time flying. After our run, we stopped by Starbucks and walked to Oiselle headquarters. Lots of mingling and introductions were made as we hung out. Sally explained that Oiselle was also running Hood to Coast in support of Every Mother Counts. It was incredibly neat to see where the Oiselle magic happens!
Next up in the afternoon, we were off to ride the ducks! The Duck Tour of Seattle was an absolute blast and a great way to see the city. The ride was complete with a lot of dancing, singing, and silliness. It was the perfect icebreaker.
After the tour, we made our way to Nuun Headquarters for dinner, more mingling, introductions, and van decorating.
I have to say that seeing where the Nuun magic happens and eating a delicious Team Lemonade themed cupcake was literally the icing on a very sweet cupcake.
Thank you Nuun for the fabulous pre-race FUN! Up next, the Hood to Coast RACE!
