Thinking Out Loud

It’s marathon season! And, pretty much since the weekends of the Chicago and Marine Corps Marathon, everyone and their mother has been running, busting out PRs and soaking in the glory of the race and I’m over here munching on pancakes every Sunday morning. But, please don’t get me wrong, munching on pancakes on the weekends has been fantastic! Our weekends are full of fun, family time and friends. It’s been a blessing in disguise to not feel the urge to rush out the door on the weekends to run. But, now that I am feeling a bit healthier, I am ready to get back to blogging, social media and running! Honestly, once I deferred running the NYCM, I found it really hard to blog, read blogs, and get excited about social media because I was jealous that I wasn’t running! So, in good news, I am working on incorporating some stretches and strengthening moves from my physical therapist in to my daily routine and it’s time to start slowly easing back into regular running. I even have the itch to start putting together a training plan for the Princess Half Marathon in February. Here’s to getting back in the swing of regular blogging and running!

Hoka One One

How have you been? Now that I’m ready to hear about it, anyone have any fantastic race experiences from the past few weeks? Link up your posts so I can catch up!

  1. Sometimes rest/break is what you need! And enjoying family and friends (with pancakes!!) doesn't sound like a bad option 😉 To that end it was great seeing you last weekend! Glad you joined the link up!

  2. It seems like a "Change of Pace, and Less is More" is the theme right now for many of us! I have been in the same "frame of mind" lately too and loving the relaxed schedule! My routine has been the same lately-planks, side planks with clamshells, bridge pose, wall squats and stationary bike! My last post is so similar to yours!

    • This time last year, the same things was going on for me. I wasn't injured but was just tired from all the training and the marathon. Right now, I'm just frustrated because I feel as though I have lost so much fitness.

Awwr. It can definitely be hard to have to watch from the sidelines while everyone else is enjoying something you love, but sometimes a little time off is what's best for us. AND…. the good news is that there's plenty more races to run in the future 😀

Thanks for joining up to ToL this week! Glad to have ya 🙂

  4. I love your honesty! Sometimes it's so hard to read about running and racing when you aren't into it (hence my little break from social media). I am learning that running, racing and the running community are always here when I'm ready to come back 🙂
It sounds like you are enjoying the relaxed schedule (pancakes are a bonus!) 🙂

  5. I think you were really wise to take a break. I kinda need a break right now and plan to take some time off when we move in a few weeks.

I think taking some time and relaxing and recovering is great! Pancakes every weekend sounds amazing!!! I am a little burned out on blogging and have not been posting much just because i don't really have anything to talk about!! I am taking a few week running hiatus after NYC! glad to see you are back!!
I had an awesome race in NYC. I had a 5 minute PR. The wind was brutal but the race was amazing!!! 🙂 http://triathletetreats.wordpress.com/2014/11/05/

    • I read that you had an awesome NYC race! I may have quit social media for a bit since I was jealous but I did keep tabs on some of my favorite people that were racing! CONGRATS!
