Thinking Out Loud: Nope, I didn’t quit my blog.

Nope, I didn’t quit my blog.  As some of my close blogging friends know, I have considered shutting down my blog a time or two. Yet, for one reason or another, I always end up coming back and posting on my slice of the Internet. Over time, my reasons for blogging have changed and my interest in maintaining my website certainly ebbs and flows. I love sharing race recaps, connecting with teammates around the globe and maintaining friendships with other athletes. Yet, it is sometimes overwhelming to feel as though you have to keep up with the competitive business side of blogging.

And, as I write this post, I still can’t believe that I stepped away from Lisa Runs for Cupcakes for over a month! It wasn’t a planned break by any means. I still played around and stayed connected on social media; I do love Instagram! But, I didn’t write any posts or comment on any blogs over the past month. It was so, so refreshing to just live life and not feel compelled to sit at my computer. Here’s a secret I will let you in on…. Living life is often more fun than blogging about life!

And, this past month was full of LIFE.

We visited with my best friend from college (aka Cora’s favorite aunties).  Sometimes girls weekends are just an absolute necessity!  Next up, Jake, Cora and I celebrated our Anniversary by visiting Disney World. We had an amazing trip and it was the perfect way to escape from the stressors of work and reconnect with my two favorite people.

After heading back to reality for a few weeks, we celebrated Cora’s pre-school graduation and then made our way back down to Florida to visit my parents, brothers, and grandparents. A little extra family time is always great! I so wish we were geographically closer to them.

Since we got home, we are back to the grind at work and I am slowly starting to hit a groove with running. Cue angels singing! My mileage isn’t quite where I hoped; yet, I am taking it nice and slow. I am incorporating a significant amount of hills to strengthen my legs, and am working on keeping my piriformis issues away!  And, I’m back to my regularly schedule blog posts.

Now, if I could only decide on a marathon-training plan. I keep going back and forth between theories. All I do know is that I want to make it to the starting line healthy, even if that means that I won’t be able to train for a personal record.

So, what was the most exciting thing you have been up to this past month? What’s your go to marathon training plan? How do you pick a plan?  Have you ever taken an unexpected blogging break?

Lisa

  1. Ditto on there being more to life then blogging. Clearly I'm still very new to this, but there's nothing more important than family time!
