Dear Nuun,

I just wanted to openly thank you for the opportunity to run Hood to Coast. But, I have to admit, that saying thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough. When I applied to run Hood to Coast with Nuun, I knew the race itself was going to be an awesome adventure. What I didn’t realize was the amount of growth that can occur during a short weekend away from the daily grind.

I am so incredibly thankful for the lessons I took away from this journey:

Love what you do. Nuun employs a passionate group of people and it is refreshing to see zest for life in the workplace. I can’t say that I know a President and CEO that would step away from their personal life to drive a van of runners across Oregon. Thank you all for making me feel a part of the Nuun family.

Live in the moment. Be silly, dance, and sing. Sometimes it is easy to be wrapped up in life and take yourself too seriously but try to find moments to express childlike joy.

Set new, big, and exciting goals. Last year, one of my goals was to run Hood to Coast with Nuun. Some family and friends thought I was crazy. Yet, there were those of you that supported me 110%. Being around this group of runners refreshed my appreciation for the sport and the desire to set new, bigger, and more exciting goals for myself.

You are a runner and you are “good enough”. As Tere, one of the gals I met this weekend put it, we are ALL runners regardless of what pace we are running. The distance we cover and the effort we put in is the same regardless of the result. Food for thought for those of us that struggle with being “good enough” runners.

As I leave this weekend behind with a renewed passion for running, I can only hope that this is the beginning of many more races to come with my new Nuun loving friends.

Nuun, thank you for making this such a memorable weekend. I can’t wait to see you all again,

Lisa

I'm so glad we had a chance to meet, even if it was brief. Next time I come to Austin, it's a must. I would love to share a Hey Cupcake with you! (I'm trying to lay off the cupcakes some these days!)

  3. It was a grand adventure. You walked into the room and it was as if I had known you for years. I can't tell you how grateful I am that we were able to spend those first few days together.. thank you for being my snuggle buddy, hopeful I didn't drool or snore too much. You have the kindest, confident and yet the most mellow nature ever, it is inspiring to be around Lisa. I feel so connected to you, not just because we share the same name, both military families and our love running, but from this entire event. I know you will achieve your goals, you're a fighter that way. It was truly a pleasure to meet you, this better not be the last time I see you! Let's relay again someday soon!

This will definitely not be the last time that we see one another. So glad we had a little bit of time to connect while grabbing coffee. I feel like I could talk your ear off all day!

Tere is like a walking, talking book of motivational quotes! I'm still trying to comprehend this weekend. When people ask me about it, I have a hard time knowing where to even start!

  5. I loved that HTC was such a great reminder to live in the moment. I tried to really take everything in and enjoy it throughout the whole trip. I'm so glad that we were able to enjoy some of those moments together and cheer each other on. Keep up all your hard work to achieve your goals — you are amazing!
