I’m Back! Disney World 2015

I’m back after a whirlwind weekend at Walt Disney World! I’m so thankful for the weekend of warm weather with my family. But, now, it’s back to the the work grind and some freezing weather.

I am so happy to report that I raced! Despite a rough February of training, I managed to race this weekend. I ran the Enchanted 10k on Saturday. Then Cora and I ran the 200m Kid’s Race together shortly after the 10k. Then, to top it off, I completed the Glass Slipper Challenge when Jake and I tackled the Princess Half Marathon on Sunday! There is honestly nothing quite like running these races with the people you love most!

We also conquered Cora’s first roller coaster! For the record, she hated the Barnstormer but loved Thunder Mountain. Go figure!

Disney 2015

And, we met a lot of Princesses and characters along the way!

Disney 2015

We had such a blast this weekend and will share our experiences of the Disney Princess Enchanted 10k, the Princess Half Marathon, and the 200m Kid’s Race with you all soon!

Have you visited Disney? If you love runDisney, what’s your favorite race weekend? Who else is so over winter?

  2. It looks like you had a great time and enjoyed Disney! I volunteered at the expo on Thursday and had a blast! I am happy we had some good weather for your visit! Hang in there- winter can't last forever!

Welcome back, it looks like you had the best of both worlds, a vacation and some races with the people you love most! I haven't raced at Disney but I'd love to do the Wine & Dine there, it looks like a blast!

    • Wine and Dine is definitely on my list of must-run races. I think the evening race is far more appealing than the 3:00am wake up call for the Disney morning races.

So happy to hear that you had a wonderful weekend at Disney, complete with races and Cora's first roller coaster experience. I love runDisney races, and can't wait to register for Wine and Dine!

  5. Princess was my first half marathon and the weekend is still special even though I haven't been back to repeat yet.

    • It's special to us too. Princess is the only race we go to at Disney World. I ran Tink and the Disneyland Half out in CA in 2013. I need to expand and run another FL race!

  6. Huge Disney World and runDisney fan here! I ran Wine & Dine in 2013 for my first half marathon. I'm hoping to do the full in January and someday run Princess. I'm going on a cruise in April and can't wait to run the Castaway Cay 5k again! Looking forward to your recaps :)

    • I would really love to run the Castaway Cay 5k one of these years. RunDisney is just such a fun race experience and a great way to get people that don't necessarily run to buy into training. And, from there, they get hooked!

Lisa, so fun and congrats on the race.

  8. Congratulations to you and your family for running the runDisney races! I cannot wait till I can do the same! I am so over winter already! We had a beautiful week last week with the temps in the 70's! Now, they're in the teens! I just want to go back to wearing my flip flops already!

Congrats on racing this past weekend. I love going to Disney but I haven't been for a number of years now. I'm over winter and ready for summer!

  10. Glad you had an amazing time depite a few traveling hiccups. I can't wait to do a run Disney race! Better start saving now!

    • Traveling there was an absolute nightmare. I'm still bummed I missed the expo and didn't get my race shirts. But, at least I was able to enjoy the parks, run the races, and get those beautiful medals! What's up next on your race schedule?!

  11. I've only been to Disney once about 20 years ago. Glad you guys had so much fun!

Ohh how fun! I have never been apart of Run Disney, but oh my gosh it always looks like a blast! Racing a roller coasters, what more could anyone want?!

    • It's such a fun race weekend! Exhausting with all of the early morning wake up calls if you are running multiple races. But, those kinds of weekends are definitely run on adrenaline!

  13. What a fun trip! I want to go to Disney World so bad along with doing a Run Disney race. I'm trying to talk the husband into it though. He's not a fan. I'm glad you had a fun trip. Your daughter is adorable.

  14. My first half marathon was at Disney World. I loved it!!!! Disney puts on a nice race. My husband completed the Goofy Challenge, which I hope to do some time in the next few years.

    • Kudos to your husband. I don't know if I could handle those super early mornings four days in a row. Seriously, that is what holds me back! I have a hard time doing two events in a row.

  15. What a fun weekend! I have done Tower of Terror in 2013 and the Marathon in January. Both were great. Our little guy loves the Disney Kids' Races, too. I need to get him back down there for a 5K at some point.

Glad you had a great time!

    • My daughter ran the 100m last year and the 200m this year. Honestly, I think she is itching to do a longer distance but I want her to have fun so I play it safe and keep the distances short! I want to try another runDisney FL event one year!

  16. Such cute pictures! I'm a total newb. I had no idea there were Disney related race events prior to a very short time ago. It looks like so much fun and would be absolutely perfect for family.

I love that picture of you and your daughter on the roller coaster! Great candid.

I have been to Disneyland many times but never Disneyworld. I'd like to fly over to Orlando before my kids become teens so we can go there and all of the other parks. It's incredible to me that there are so many amusement parks in Orlando.

I've never run a Disney race, but I would love to do the Wine & Dine one day! My daughter wants me to run the Disneyland Half and take her. :)

    • I ran the Disneyland Half last year and the race was great! For me the races at Disneyland seemed lower stress than the ones at Disney World. I like how everything at Disneyland is much closer together and involves less time on transportation getting there.

  18. Sounds like a lovely weekend! I so want to do a RunDisney race at some point - they look like the most fun!

Love the roller coaster pic :)

My family loves Disney! We go as often as we can and thank goodness we all love to ride just about everything! I honestly didn't know there were so many races being run at the Disney parks. Looks like you had a blast!

  20. I could not agree more, running races with the people you love the most is the absolute best. At the Princess Weekend I had to settle for my boys and hubby greeting me at the finish line, still awesome but not quite as sweet. My baby boys smoke me in 5ks now soon 10ks.

  21. I have never been to Disney, but it looks like so much fun! I am sick of this winter!!

  22. Welcome back! (It must have been so hard to leave! ._.) Thunder Mountain was my favorite roller coaster too! :P I've never done a Disney race, but kinda have been thinking about picking up running again just so I can do that! :P

    • Yes, I'm happy with the way the races turned out. I pushed it a little in the 10k to see what the legs had in them. Then I took it easy on the half since my legs were pretty smoked.

  27. Congrats on the race, I love that pic on the roller coaster!!
