If there is one thing I have learned over the years, it is that there is something for everyone when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals. And, on that same note, some of those fitness trends just aren’t for me. So, thanks to the creative ladies of the DC Trifecta (Mar + Cynthia + Courtney) and their Friday Five Link-Up, I’m sharing five fitness trends you won’t catch me doing or talking about on this blog.
1. Zumba: This class is my personal nightmare in fitness form. I do not like dancing at all. Just ask my poor husband. He loves to bust a move and well, I don’t. So, the thought of combining dance with a group fitness class just makes me cringe.
2. Mud Runs: I have changed my opinion on my desire to participate in a mud run over the years. At first they seemed fun! But, every time I have the opportunity to participate in one, I bail on the idea because I don’t want to get hurt by rolling an ankle sliding around in mud. Oh, and there are the more serious injuries that come with the races like electric shocks and hypothermia that have made the news.
3. Crossfit: While I know lots of folks that have major success with Crossfit, it just doesn’t look like fun to me. And, that is likely because it doesn’t have an inclusive feel to it. I mean, I am sure there are lots of people out there that will disagree with me but that’s how I feel about Crossfit.
4. Color Runs: I know, this may surprise some of you but I have no desire to run through puffs of color. At this point, I would rather spend my money supporting a local 5k than the pricey rainbow clouded color runs.
5. Foam Runs: Please reference color runs and mud runs.
Man, I guess I like good old fashion races with no sparkles, mud, foam or obstacles. It’s hard enough to get the running piece down. It just goes to show that fitness trends aren’t for everyone! What fitness trends are OUT for you?! Do you agree or disagree with any of the fitness trends I mentioned?

Crossfit looks so intimidating! I've done a mud run and a color run-not my cup of tea. I'm with you, I'd rather just run. Definitely enough of a challenge!
My recent post 5 Things I've Learned Lately
I would say the only way I would do a color run is if my daughter really wanted to run one!
haha - are lists are pretty sympatico 🙂 and this is why we're friends!
My recent post Friday Five: 5 Fitness Trends
Yes! I knew we got along for a reason 😉
I say no to all the themed runs! Seriously, why would I want to run and be sprayed with foam or paint? I don't understand…
Oh, how did I forget about the foam runs! I would say no to those too 😉
Wow- I am 100% with you!!! I thought I would like Zumba though, and was a bit sad when I realized I would never want to try it again- once in a lifetime was just right 😉
By the way, I'm Lisa and I also say I run so I can eat- so thanks for sharing your thoughts and your page- I am enjoying it!!!
Hi Lisa! Thanks for stopping by! And, you are so brave for trying zumba, even just once!
I’m in total agreement except I do love to dance 🙂

I'm jealous 😉 It looks like fun but my body has different thoughts!
I'm with you on the good old fashioned races, although I have done a Color Run but ONLY because it was a fun thing to do with my son, he had a ball.
If my daughter wanted to run a color run, that is the only way I would do one of those races!
It's funny that you post this as I received my eMail for Foam Glow 5K packet pick up. I was excited to do it with some friends who like to only run these fun runs. I haven't seen them in awhile so I figured it was a win-win. However, when I saw the eMail, I began to think I wasted my money. I don't want to run on a Saturday at 9pm at night with 2k+ runners. I know it's called GLOW RUN, but I forsee some issues with finding each other after awhile. Plus, I am usually in the bed by 10pm since I do long runs on Sunday. LOL.
I have done a Dirty Girl Mud Run and a Color Run. Each to be with friends and family who do not care to run the old fashioned races. Eh! They can have them. I like my time in the wind without the gimmicks.
Yep, I think I would do one of those races if I had family begging me. But, since I am usually the ring leader, it's a no go. And, I totally forgot to add those glow races and foamy ones to my list of things to avoid!
I did the color run a couple years ago thinking it would be a blast and come to find out it was the worst run of my life. I much rather enjoy running alone with just me, my music and the road
See, I knew I wasn't the only one that wasn't keen on color runs. It's nice to have a little confirmation!
I'm glad I'm not alone! 😉
