The Newest Gadget on the Block: LEO

I clicked this link and I was instantly intrigued. Now, I’m not typically a gadget girl. But, my husband is definitely into the latest and greatest when it comes to technology. He was the one that bought me my first and second GPS watches and got our family all aboard the Mac computer and iPhone train. But, I think I can claim victory over finding the newest innovative gadget on the block. So, what is it? It’s called LEO and this band has the capability of providing athletes with real-time knowledge about staying healthy and maintaining an active lifestyle. In order to get the concept off the ground, LEO is currently involved in an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for their project.

So, what does this compression leg band and the technology look like?

And, why did it catch my eye? Well, for a few reasons. LEO recognizes how your muscles move by using a technique called electromyography (EMG). Instead of this technology only being available to professional athletes, LEO is attempting to bring EMG to the masses. With this kind of technology, you can track your trends over time and ultimately take note of what works for you in training and what might have led you to an injury. I think that it is pretty cool that the more you use the product, the more you will be able to see anomalies.

Plus, no gadget is complete if you don’t have an app to track your progress. LEO takes all the information it tracks and analyzes it for you. Very cool if you are looking for ways to take your training to the next level! I can’t help but think that this is really fun and cutting edge. Please tell me I’m not the only one that thinks this!

So, what do you think? Would you consider backing this project? They have two weeks left to gather as much funding as humanly possible! What features do you find the most interesting? What are your thoughts on incorporating this kind of technology into your training? I would love to hear what you think! And, here’s the link to go back the LEO!

Disclaimer: I hope to be one of the first to beta test the new LEO. If it works out, I will keep you all posted on my training with it! I was not compensated for this post. Right now, I can’t help but think it’s a really awesome project to back.
