Peaks and Valleys: Adventures in Training Week 3 & 4

It’s time for me to share Peaks and Valleys: Adventures in Training Week 3 & 4, my second series of training logs from 2015. You can find the recap of my first two weeks back in the running game here. It’s nice to slowly get back in the swing of things with no pressure and no focus on speed. My goal right now is to just slowly build back up my mileage.

Peaks and Valleys: Adventures in Training Week 3 & 4

Monday: I slipped and on some ice while attempting to get to work. Epic fail. Unplanned rest.
Tuesday: 2 Easy Miles on the Treadmill + Stretching Routine (Oh so achy from my fall yesterday.)
Wednesday: 3 Easy Miles on the Treadmill + Stretching(Felt a little bit better but still bruised. Ego and all.)
Thursday: 2 Easy Miles on the Treadmill + Stretching Routine
Friday: Rest – Stretching
Saturday: 3 Easy Miles on the Treadmill
Sunday: 6 Easy Miles on the Treadmill (Yet another ice storm today… Sick of the treadmill)

Total Mileage: 16 (Consider it a step back week thanks to the ice mishap on Monday)

Week 4 - January 19-25

Monday: Rest – Stretching
Tuesday: 3.1 Miles (Relatively flat run around West Point)
Wednesday: 3.1 Miles + Stretching
Thursday: Rest - Sick Day
Friday: 4 Miles
Saturday: 3 Miles of Snowshoeing
Sunday: 7 Miles on the Treadmill

Total Mileage: 20 Miles ( 17 Running + 3 Snowshoeing)

Peak of the Week:

Snowshoeing was a really awesome way to get in some miles and get outside!

Valley of the Week:

I think the slip and fall takes the cake on the worst part of my week. It definitely threw off my running.

All in all, I’m happy to be getting miles in on a consistent basis. I haven’t really ramped up my long runs yet because I want to make sure that I do not get hurt. With the Princess Half Marathon at the end of February, I need to build up faster than I would like but I still think that I can manage to do it safely. It’s about a month away and I am pretty confident that I can tackle the race weekend.

What was your peak or valley of the week? How are my northeastern friends prepping for the SNOW?!

Lisa
