As you can see above, KT Tape is a sports tape designed to provided relief and support to the user. In the past, I used KT Tape to assist with nagging IT Band issues last year {like at the Rock ‘n’ Roll USA race}. Luckily, I did not have many issues the rest of the year. But, unfortunately, I am using KT Tape once again for some additional foot support.
So, what are my impressions of KT Tape? I love the variety of colors! If I am using it during a race, I can get playful with colors and match it to my race outfits. But, if I want to use it during the week, and don’t want it to stand out against my work attire, I opt for black. I really like that it lasts for several days, even with sweaty workouts and showers in the mix. My only suggestions is to make sure that you secure those edges by starting off with a clean surface. And, if you stretch out the initial anchor point when adhering the tape, it is way more likely to curl up. I see a lot of this at races! Also, give the tape a good rub! Heating it up with friction will help it stay secure in the long run. Oh, and try and stay put for a little while before getting active.
So as you can see, for me, it’s all in the application! If you know how to apply this stuff, it has the ability to work wonders and provide you with a lot of support. I’m a firm believer in having someone that knows what they are doing show you how to do it before you give it a whirl on your own. Will it hurt you to just go out there and give it a try? No. But, you might be frustrated that it isn’t giving you the support you anticipated. And as a reminder of how to do it properly, I find it best to follow along using their application instructions on their website until you really get the hang of it!
